In a way this island is similar to Bird Island which I've written about previously. The difference here is that the resort is much more luxurious.  The commitment to preserving one of the world's most precious and beautiful places is the same though. Conservation of the island's fauna and flora is first priority and, by visiting, you will help the island's owners ensure that the future of this exquisite treasure is safe for future generations.

The Resort

Absolutely luxurious, yet hidden by the island's vegetation - that's Fregate Island Private.

The seventeen "rooms" that make up the resort are actually villas - the smallest one is 400 sqm and they range in size all the way up to the Banyan Hill Estate - which is over 1000 sqm.

Every luxury awaits so don't worry if you couldn't bring your personal butler with you - the villas comes with one as standard.  I can only imagine the stress of being without a butler ;-)

Of course each villa has its own pool, golf cart, wireless internet etc. Pretty much all the modern "essentials".

The only things likely to disturb your tranquility are the birds singing, an occasional tank of a tortoise rumbling by and a turtle or two popping out of the sea to lay some eggs.

Restaurants

The resort is home to two of the top restaurants in the entire Seychelles and you can eat anytime and anywhere you please from a choice of international and creole dishes.  

How about lunch or dinner up in a tree house restaurant (you can't beat it for a romantic dinner). Or maybe a BBQ on the beach. Feel like dressing up a little? Then dine at the yacht club.

Whatever you want just ask... and its yours.  

Exhausted by a hectic day of snorkeling, massages, diving, fishing or floating about in tranquil seas of sapphire blue? Then have your private butler bring you dinner in your room.

The Beaches

Anse Victorin is the beach you'll want to see. The kind of beach every bucket list should include and the sort of beach you'll never get out of your head. Definitely one of the best beaches in the Seychelles, and indeed one of the best beaches in the world.  

If you get bored with the best beach in the world then you've another seven to choose from; each of them nearly as lovely. The best one for children is Marina Beach, where the sea is calm and shallow.

Getting to Fregate Island

You'll see where Fregate is on the map we have at the bottom of our smaller island's page.

It's a short 15 minute flight out to the island from Mahe International Airport or you can get a boat across which takes 90 minutes.

Boat is a lot cheaper, but when you're paying for the most exclusive island resort in the Seychelles what is a few hundred Euros extra for the flight? Anyway, the flight will save you having to buy seasickness tablets as the boat trip can get a little rough.
